Setting up Google Analytics on Blogger and Sites

To setup tracking for Blogger or Google Site , secure first an account for your subdomain (e.g., name.irri.org) from IRRI.ORG admins in CPS-Web.

We will send you the Google Analytics (GA) Web Property ID for your subdomain once the subdomain is set up on GA.

When you receive the Web Property ID, follow these steps:

Log in to your Blogger account or Google Site account using your IRRI.ORG account.

For Blogger, follow the 3 steps:

    Navigate to your blog's

    Settings.

    Then choose

    Other.

Fill the Google Analytics Web Property ID (the UA code which looks like this: UA-1108376-28
    ).
    Don't forget to

    Save settings.

For Google sites, follow these 2 steps:

Once on your Site, select More then Manage site.

On Manage site, fill the Statistics with the Analytics Web Property ID, tick the enable box, then Save.

        These are it, you're done!

Once you complete the steps above, you should see data in your Google Analytics account within 24 hours (assuming someone visited your site).

Note though that as default, visits to the IRRI.ORG domain from within the IRRI network are filtered out. GA data that will show are visits of site users from external networks.

We will be glad to walk you through GA and how to make sense of the data you gather off Blogger or Sites, or better, post comments to this article so we can provide you with  Analytics insights.
